1) The draft of the “Pilot Duty Solicitor Scheme during Police Detention” was developed by the Open Society Justice Initiative and Open Society Sofia in 2009. It provides guidelines on the practical implementation of a pilot duty solicitor scheme in Bulgaria. It covers the main rights and responsibilities of duty solicitors and police, and a step-by-step procedure to follow in implementing the scheme. It also annexes a number of necessary template forms and registers for the scheme.

2) The Guidance on the Safer Detention and Handling of Persons in Custody focuses on practical issues and provides a guide on how police forces should put in place strategic and operational policies to help raise the standards of custodial care, especially when it comes to safety, for those that come into contact with the police.
