We believe the Netherlands is an interesting case in this regard, as in its present course of changing legal aid policy, comparative research has played an important role in looking for best practice abroad. If there is anything this case illustrates it is the necessity of taking a closer look, specifically by gathering more empirical data, when labeling experiences elsewhere as “best practice”.
