EU Member State representatives today agreed on a draft law that will ensure defendants’ right to information in criminal proceedings wherever they are in the EU.

In the context of police investigations Mr. Panovits, who at the time was 17, was invited to the police station and questioned. He confessed to manslaughter and robbery for which he was then charged and convicted.

The applicant, Daniel Sobolewski is currently serving prison sentence in Poland, for fraud.

Mr Natunen and two other persons were suspected of trafficking in drugs.
