On 25 November 2011 the African Policing Civilian Oversight Forum delivered a joint statement on police and pretrial detention at the African Commission on Human and Peoples' Rights session in Banjul.

The house of representative of Indonesia has enacted the bill of legal aid to a new legal aid law on October 4th 2011. 

UNODC has released a draft of the UN Principles and Guidelines on Access to Legal Aid in Criminal Justice Systems.
